Understanding Your JAMB Admission Status and What It Means

If you’re preparing to gain admission into a Nigerian tertiary institution, knowing how to interpret your status on the JAMB CAPS portal is very important. Each status carries a specific meaning and guides you on your next step.

1. Admission in Progress (AIP)

This means your institution has recommended you for admission. The process is ongoing, awaiting final approval first from the school’s Head of Institution, then from JAMB.

2. Recommended

Here, your school has considered you for admission, and your details have been sent to JAMB. JAMB will now verify if you meet all requirements before giving final approval.

3. Not Admitted

At this stage, you have not been offered admission yet. This may be because your school has not released its full list or your application is still being reviewed.

4. Admission Offered

Congratulations! JAMB has officially approved your admission. You should log in to your CAPS portal immediately to accept (or reject) the offer.

5. Pending

Your application is still under consideration. No final decision has been made, so you’ll need to keep che

cking back regularly.
