BERETTA IN THE WRONG HANDS: WHY DO WE RUSH TO DEFEND SUSPECTS AND CONDEMN SECURITY FORCES?
How many innocent lives could have been lost if that Beretta pistol—loaded with live ammunition—had been used?
This is the question we should be asking.
Instead, what we often see is a familiar pattern: suspected criminals are quickly defended and portrayed as victims, while security personnel are condemned without waiting for the full story.
Justice doesn’t work that way.
Every situation deserves proper investigation. Facts must come first—before emotions, before opinions, and certainly before social media narratives. Jumping to conclusions only clouds the truth and can put more lives at risk.
Security officers, too, deserve fairness. Acting in the line of duty is not always clear-cut, and rushing to judge them without due process weakens the system. It creates doubt, hesitation, and ultimately gives room for criminal activities to thrive.
What we need is balance—firm law enforcement, transparent investigations, and accountability across the board. Not emotional reactions. Not selective outrage. Just truth and justice.
