Afrobeats star Tiwa Savage has opened up about why she doesn’t consider herself the “Queen of Afrobeats
Afrobeats superstar Tiwa Savage has spoken candidly about why she does not embrace the title of “Queen of Afrobeats,” while also reflecting on a painful past relationship with a fellow public figure that, according to her, left her feeling deeply disrespected and unappreciated.
During her appearance on the Joe Budden Podcast, Savage explained that the man she was involved with insisted that their relationship had to remain hidden from the public eye, a rule he strictly enforced even as he openly entertained and interacted with other women right in front of her.
She described the experience as extremely disrespectful, pointing out that both she and her partner were public figures, which made his reasoning even more difficult to accept, as he claimed the secrecy was necessary to ensure that no one would discover their relationship.
According to Savage, the situation became even more troubling when he defended his actions by saying he had to be seen engaging with other women in public spaces so that people would not become suspicious of their closeness.
She recalled several occasions when she attended events with him, only to be put in uncomfortable situations where she had to watch him behave in ways that crossed boundaries with other women, all under the pretense of protecting the privacy of their relationship.
